There is something about soft spring light that makes me want to banish the cozy winter essentials and start getting ready for spring. And as much as I would like to go bonkers for complete house revamping every season, I will opt for minor changes; so lets focus on details.
So for today’s post I wanted to concentrate on the really little changes. Sometimes it’s the simplest little changes that get the best results! You know, the stuff that you can implement in one day – quick, satisfying, high impact and low cost.
1. Refresh Your Bedding
Welcome spring and treat yourself! Pick up a new duvet to brighten up your bedroom. This easy fix not only brings color to your room but can help motivate you to make your bed each and every day! Plus, new bedding is an easy way to transform a space. Consider light colors or layered textures of whites.
2. Update Your Pillows
There are dozens of affordable, fabulous cushions that are one of a kind and will add some zing to your space instantaneously. Switch out your decorative pillows and throws for lightweight fabrics, like linen and cotton. Throw on some blankets and voila – your favourite new resting nook.
3. Use Greenery
I like to freshen things up when springtime rolls around with big statement leaves. From banana leaves and philodendron leaves, to palms and papyrus, it’s an easy and low-maintenance way to add freshness to a room without any fuss. Overdose on plants inside it’s the quickest way to not only green up your space but to transform any neglected area into something totally cool.
4. Shop your Home
Rearrange what you’ve already got. Move the sofa or the table, or the console around. It always gives you a fresh perspective.
5. Embellish Empty Corners
There are no empty corners in my house. There’s always a table or chair, a stack of books on a trolley, a floor lamp or artwork so it doesn’t feel blank. If you want a room to feel mesmerising, fill in all those little nooks, even if it’s a simple case of rearranging the furniture.
6. Bring in New Scents
Fragrance is an accessory. It adds depth and character. And it allows you to give each space in your home a different feel. I also love having fun candleholders to spice up a boring side table or desk.
And do not forget; keep it simple. Spring is a time when we all want the freshness of the outdoors to be reflected in our interiors. Renewal doesn’t mean you have to change everything in your home. Remove your usual accessories for a while and have only simple fresh spring branches and some lovely green plants complementing your home. Simple changes go a long way.
