Making everything in the room matchy-matchy
The best way to make a space super personal is by picking out furniture and accessories over time. Avoid the “showroom look” that occurs when everything comes in a set and instead mix different types of lighting, side tables and textures.

I know, we all love vintage furniture, but too much will make your place look more like a museum than a modern home. Pick just few amazing pieces that will make your room super personal, but always mix vintage items with new ones.

Furniture is affected by trends, just as everything else is. So rather than just following the latest trends stay true to your own interior aesthetics. Choose items that will aesthetically grow with you, and you will use and love them for years to come.

When you arrange your layout, remember: Though eclectic style does involve combining styles and periods through a wide variety of items, the curated look shouldn’t lack focus. Create a series of focal points (say an accent wall, fireplace or one bold item) that will visually overpower your ability to comprehend the space all at once. The place will be perceived as intriguing and unique.

Neglecting the corners
Don’t allow unfilled corners to become big, eye-grabbing decor blanks. Fill them up. Add a throw-topped ottoman; create a nook with a wall arrangement of photos and a comfy chair; pop in a plant; or bookshelves; or super sized lamp.
