Stana Kilim

300.002 200.00

Kilim is a traditional hand-woven wool fabric. It can be used as a rug, a blanket, a bed cover or as a charming decoration for walls and windows. The Stana kilim has toned down colours and is inspired by Alvar Aalto and sea side landscapes. It is designed by Slovenian duo Kobeiagi Kilims and hand woven in Bosnia and Herzegovina by a small community of women. Depending on the size of the kilim, it usually takes them between 2 to 6 weeks to finish your kilim.

The Stana kilim is handmade upon order. It is limited in availability and may take up to 6 weeks to produce.

Kobeiagi Kilims was founded by Ivana Blaž and Nina Mršnik, an architect from Bosnia and a designer and illustrator from Slovenia. The idea of starting the ‘kilim revival’ project had been on their minds for quite some time and became reality after their visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina, where they saw that almost nobody continues to practice this traditional, centuries-old craft.

The Kobeiagi kilims are made by the skilled weavers of Lejla’s workshop, which is located in the Bosnian town of Visoko. They source the finest wool from the long-fleeced sheep locally, and the wool is taken from rough bale to coloured thread within Visoko. It has to be spun, plied into thread and dyed before our weavers can begin their work. Every part of kilim weaving process takes place in a 20km radius, meaning they are truly a local product.
