8 Tips for Decorating a Minimalist Bedroom

If the closure of the outside world has thought us anything, it is to delve deep into our (literal) interior worlds and pay more attention to our living spaces. And there is no room more important for your well-being than a cozy bedroom that makes you feel sheltered from the chaos of the world. If you’ve been wondering how to decorate or re-decorate your bedroom into a calm, relaxing space, here are some interior design tips to get your started.

2. Go subtle with the colors

The best colors to achieve a soothing, minimal look are neutral colors like whites, greys, creams or pastels like lavender, light blue or green. This doesn’t mean that your bedroom needs to be boring— feel free to play with patterns and textures or experiment with different ways to add interesting color pops to more neutrally colored walls and furniture. Bold throw pillows or a duvet cover, maybe an art piece or accessories in your favourite hue are a great place to start.

3. Keep it simple

Regardless of your style, the bedroom should be the coziest place of your home where you can rest and relax without much distraction. A minimalist lifestyle is about living only with the things that bring value to your life. Therefore furnish your bedroom with the pieces you actually need: a bed, a bedside table or two and a dresser or clothing rack are necessities, anything else is optional and can be added later if needed. To achieve minimal look think of the visual weight of each piece. In a small bedroom floor plan, go for a light-looking bed and minimal nightstands. If your bedroom is large, consider a taller headboard, additional pieces of furniture or large piece of wall art to fill out the space without making it too crowded.
